Made by Margaret Fay Garrity as a gift in exchange for the hospitality of her relatives after her husband's death.
This quilt is machine pieced of solid fabrics in red, green, and white with green sashing and red and green borders. Embroidery in some of the windows is done with red cotton thread. The batting is cotton. The binding is red fabric cut on straight grain, hand and machine attached with mitered corners. The quilt is hand quilted overall with straight lines, and with diagonal lines in the borders. The stitching is even at 4 stitches to the inch, done with white cotton/polyester thread. The backing is cotton muslin.
